The swim is the one triathlon discipline that most triathletes are the least confident about. Not only is swimming a very difficult sport technically, even in the safe confinement of a pool, but when you get to the open water and have to deal with waves, currents, and hundreds of other triathletes, the sport changes entirely - and it doesn't get any easier. Brenton Ford is a top Australian swim coach, founder of Effortless swimming, and former national level competitive swimmer. On today's episode he discusses how to improve your open water swimming in both training and racing.

Mind over muscle isn't just a saying, to an extent it's actual science, and you can use that to your advantage in your triathlon training. Today's interview is with Professor Samuele Marcora, Director of Research at the School of Sports and Exercise Sciences at the University of Kent. He is a leading expert on psychobiology in endurance performance, and has done extensive research showing that endurance performance is not just limited by our physiological fitness, but also by our minds and mental fitness. He is also leading the way in the fascinating research of Brain Endurance Training (BET).
